Organisations have been offered some advice on how to recruit and retain the best candidates.
In news that may interest companies recruiting people for insurance sales jobs, Online Recruitment notes that a recent session hosted by Jeff Grout highlighted the difficulties faced by companies looking for the ideal person to fill an empty role.
At a breakfast briefing on "recruiting excellence" hosted by 4MAT, Mr Grout observed that recruitment excellence has a direct effect on shareholder value and as such should be prioritised.
Citing research showing that Generation Y spends an average of two years in one job, the speaker suggested that organisations attempt to recruit their insurance sales workers and other employees "every day".
The variation between the factors that motivate different people must also be taken into account, he said.
Anne Fairweather, head of public policy at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, recently commented that companies are likely to be examining levels of recruitment over the summer period.
